#Eda85daysinJapan | Chapter 4 (Hokuriku) | Kanazawa – Collabon, HARIO CAFE, Gallery & Cafe Muku, Pessoa
🗓️ May – June 2026
📍 collabon, HARIO CAFE, Gallery & Cafe Muku, Pessoa
Four cafés I visited in Kanazawa that lasted in my memory.
collabon — old footwear shop on Omotesando. Pet friendly. There was a dog called Milo just stationing there, which already made my afternoon. Coffee, local artists, crafts, exhibitions. I stayed longer than I planned.
HARIO CAFE — Nagamachi, in the old samurai-house streets. Only opened in March 2026, first HARIO café in Hokuriku. Courtyard, their own glass gear, hand-drip. They sell the utensils and those glass accessories too — really beautiful. A bit pricey compared to other local cafés, but the house and the glass are kind of the point.
Gallery & Cafe Muku — 椋 — Higashiyama, near Higashi Chaya. Built in 1897 as a lumber shop, restored in 2009. Big beams, zashiki rooms, garden. Became a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2016. Lots of LPs. Local crafts everywhere. Very easy to wander and then sit.
Pessoa — near where I stayed. Pessoa is Portuguese for “person,” and also a poet’s name. The owner named it after a trip to Portugal. Young owners, small but cute. Pour over, and each coffee comes with a card they designed. I loved how they categorise their beans. This time I picked Colombia.
